Grovian Metaphor Therapy (GMT)

GMT was developed by David Grove.  Grove has developed a unique approach to exploring client metaphors associated with their trauma and is using those metaphors to bring about transformation. His approach, also referred to as "Clean Language" enables an individual to explore and understand their own metaphors.

Each person's metaphors are a unique and individual expression of their own experiences, The GMT or Clean Language approach makes no interpretation of the metaphor.  The use of neutral language and skilled questioning protocols ensures that the questioner's own perceptions do not contaminate or influence the process.

The client is free to evolve their own metaphors and to work towards reaching a resolution of their own problem

Points to consider:

GMT is not as widely known publicly as many other therapies.  It is however well known within therapeutic circles and it is gaining in popularity as more therapists become aware of the benefits of this client centered approach
