Richard is a professionally qualified counsellor, hypno-psychotherapist and mediator. He is also a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), EMDR Europe, the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the International Stress Management Association (ISMA).

He has trained with a number of professional organisations including the Centre for Stress Management, EMDR Workshops, Regents College and the National Centre for Eating Disorders.

Richard's professional areas of expertise include Stress management, Eating Disorders, Trauma counselling, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and EMDR. He has undertaken associate work for several large health providers including The Priory, BUPA, National Phobics Society and Primary Care Trust.

Prior to this, Richard worked for a number of years as a Senior Consultant for a major multi-national business consultancy.
